Had an emergency phone call from a good client and friend that reminded me… now that winter is here, it’s a good time to think about power management and protection.
The recent winter storms here in Northern Ca. caused power outage and fluctuations in his home. This caused the power supply in one of his desktop machines to short out.
He is using a surge protector on his systems, but I’m recommending to him to go ahead and get a UPS which also has the ability to regulate the amount of power going through it to his systems.
Yes, UPS are expensive… but if he’d had one, he wouldn’t have had to pay for an emergency repair job yesterday. It’s one of those ‘ounce of prevention’ things.
